World book day
World Book Day 2023
World Book Day 2023 was full of reading fun. Children and staff (not forgetting our dinner staff) took this opportunity to dress up as their favourite book characters. We also had our annual story telling session which was equally enjoyed by the staff as well as the children. This year each year group decided on their favourite text for the day to read, share, enjoy and explore to create some very interesting door displays.
World Book Day 2022
World Book Day 2022 was costume friendly and restrictions free. It was very much welcomed by all children and staff to take this opportunity to dress up as their favourite book characters. Our dinner staff surprised us when they served dinner in the famous book character costumes! While the children enjoyed creating their own book characters and designing a winning book cover, they also had the opportunity to meet a story teller and listen to stories on the day.
World Book Day 2021
World Book Day 2021 was an unusual one, as we were all in a National Lockdown. However, this did not stop Woden celebrate such an important day! This year we had lots of activities based on a story, read by a Story Teller. We also had our very own ‘The masked Reader’ competition where we had to guess which teacher was behind the mask reading the end of the day story. Not only this but we encouraged all of our families to spend their Friday afternoon reading together to promote ‘Pleasure for Reading’. All children had a lovely day despite the unfortunate circumstances.
World Book Day 2020
On Friday 13th March, as part of our annual celebration of books, we celebrated World Book Day! This year our theme was resilience and celebrating Mental Health Awareness by focussing on the story ‘The Dot’. Our KS2 children created and designed their very own story books. The standard of these were excellent! The KS2 children then had the exciting opportunity to read their stories to a group of younger children. KS1 and EYFS had a day of fun activities that were based around our story. All children had a fantastic day and loved dressing up as their favourite character.
World Book Day 2019
This year we celebrated World Book Day on Friday 15th March! All children took part in a carousel of activities linked to a particular book. The books celebrated were Giraffes Can’t Dance, Going on a Bear Hunt, Roald Dahl Books and Storm Breaker: Alex Rider. The children were so enthusiastic during the day and it was great to see so many children dressed up as their chosen character. Activities ranged from an exciting escape room, code breaking, assault courses, creating riddles and a thrilling bear hunt!
