Music at Woden
“Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand.”- Stevie Wonder
Music at Woden aims to be creative, progressive and enjoyable! We believe that music gives children so many transferrable skills for the future. From Nursery through to Year 6, our pupils are able to listen to and appraise a variety of musical genres by composers throughout history. At Woden, we love a performance – whether we are taking part or watching as an audience.
We are so lucky to welcome visiting theatre companies to our school, where we watch educational pantomimes, musicals and instrumental performances. During our music lessons, children learn to play a variety of percussion instruments as well as the glockenspiel and recorder. Some children in Years 4-6 are also given the opportunity to learn a woodwind instrument taught by teachers from Wolverhampton Music Service.
Take a look at the links on our website page to see some of our recent musical experiences! Our most recent favourites include Reception’s outdoor sing-along, Bicycle Boy the Eco Musical and of course Young Voices 2019.
At Woden, we are proud singers and enjoy weekly singing assemblies. These have been postponed for a while due to the pandemic. However, we are still able to sing outdoors and have a wide variety of resources available to sing at home too! Check out the useful website’s icon for these.
