European Language Day
On Friday 27th September, we celebrated European Language Day where each year group immersed themselves into a different culture and language.
Thankfully, members of Woden’s Translation Team were on hand to help KS1 classes and EYFS in their learning; teaching children phrases and words from their native European language.
In EYFS, children were learning Spanish with 2 members of Woden’s Translation Team relaying their knowledge of the language. Hola!
Year 1 had the pleasure of learning of Romania while Year 2 spent the day in Poland. Our Translation Team became really involved in the learning, helping the children say and write basic sentences in their language.
Year 3 became embroiled in the land of the Vikings, learning some basic Norwegian whilst creating Northern Light art and learning of the Vikings fearsome reputation.
Italy was the country of Year 4 – check out this spaghetti! It’s a piece of art!!
The battling Greek Gods, ancient pottery and geography of famous landmarks was all in a day’s work for Year 5.
Year 6 ventured to Germany , finding out about the delicious food and historical buildings that make this European country so interesting.
