80th anniversary of VE Day

Thursday 8th May 2025 marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

As a school, we celebrated this symbolic day allowing us to celebrate peace and reflect on the hardships of war. At Woden, we came together to celebrate with schools across England during an assembly dedicated to VE Day. Pupils were able to listen to first-hand recounts from WWII. At lunchtime, pupils had their ‘Woden Picnic’ together and, in the afternoon, children produced some wonderful, creative work that reflected the meaning of VE Day.

Children dressed for the occasion and should be extremely proud of how they commemorated VE Day.
